Effective dust collection improves visibility, keeps abrasive circulating more cleanly, and reduces dust escaping the cabinet. Some cabinets include or require a dedicated dust collector. Match the collector to the cabinet and abrasive specified by the manufacturer.

Media choice depends on the material being cleaned and the desired finish. Glass bead, aluminum oxide, garnet, and other media have different cutting action and surface effects. Use only media approved for the cabinet and appropriate for the workpiece.

Air demand depends on nozzle size, blasting pressure, gun design, and the specific cabinet. Compare the manufacturer’s required CFM and PSI with your compressor’s delivered output at that pressure, not just the compressor’s tank size.

Choose based on the largest parts you expect to clean, not just typical small parts. Compare interior cabinet dimensions, door opening, working height, load capacity, gun reach, dust collection, and the room needed to load and unload parts.

A blast cabinet uses abrasive media to remove rust, paint, scale, and surface contamination from parts inside an enclosed work area. It is useful for restoration, fabrication, engine parts, brackets, wheels, and other components that fit within the cabinet’s rated workspace.
