Nitrogen Generators & Tire Inflation Systems FAQs

What should I compare between nitrogen inflation systems?

Compare nitrogen purity, flow rate, operating pressure, storage tank size, number of hoses or service points, purge functions, air requirements, filters, maintenance costs, and support.

Is nitrogen tire inflation a substitute for checking tire pressure?

No. Tires still need routine pressure checks and adjustment. Nitrogen may change the rate of pressure variation in some conditions, but it does not prevent leaks, punctures, or normal pressure changes.

Do nitrogen tire systems require an air compressor?

Many do. Check the generator's required inlet pressure, CFM, air quality, filtration, and electrical requirements and make sure your shop compressor can support the demand.

What size nitrogen generator does my tire shop need?

Size the system around the number and size of tires serviced, desired inflation speed, operating pressure, daily volume, and storage capacity. High-volume or truck applications need more output than occasional passenger-car service.

How does a nitrogen generator for tires work?

Many systems use membrane or other separation technology to produce nitrogen-rich gas from compressed air, which is then stored or delivered for tire inflation. Exact purity and output vary by system.
